My results from doing a Black Friday sale
Like most entrepreneurs on the internet, I did a sale for Black Friday. I made $650.
I sold $600 worth of newsletter adverts. Thanks to Emma Fletcher from Evergreen Support and to Simon Hamp from LaraDevs for sponsoring my High Signal newsletter for founders!
I also discounted my newsletter courses and job board template on Gumroad. I made one sale of my newsletter course bundle for $50.
I think at this stage I need to update these courses with new material. There is a lot about growing and monetizing newsletters that has not changed. It's a pretty evergreen area.
But there are also new areas like paid growth tools such as Beehiiv boosts that I'd like to cover. Boosts can be used to grow a newsletter and also to monetize one (as you can paid to recommend other newsletters. Kit (formerly ConvertKit) also has a similar scheme. So I plan to update the newsletter courses in the next couple of months.
So I made $650 in total. Not my best but not my worst! I didn't actually buy anything this year. There were a few tempting offers but I think you should really just buy things you need. I'm putting more focus on profitability and saving up money at the moment so I'm glad I didn't spend on things I didn't need.
